FAQ
How do I select the correct plate thickness for my application?
Use 1.5mm for light-duty applications like furniture joining and decorative connections. Use 2.0mm for medium-duty railing splices and shelving connectors. Use 2.5mm for heavy-duty structural joining and framework bracing. Use 3.0mm for maximum load-bearing connections where structural integrity is critical.
How many plates do I need for a tube splice connection?
For a standard tube splice, use 2 plates positioned on opposite sides of the joint for balanced load distribution. For small diameter tubes under 25mm, a single plate may be sufficient for light-duty connections. For structural applications, use 3-4 plates evenly spaced around the circumference of the joint.
What screws should I use with these connecting plates?
Use stainless steel self-tapping screws M4 or M5 for metal-to-metal connections. For wood-to-metal connections, use stainless steel wood screws with a flat head. The screw length should penetrate at least 15mm into the structural material. Always use stainless steel screws to match the plate material and prevent galvanic corrosion.
Can these plates be bent or shaped after purchase?
The LD-236 plates are supplied as flat rectangular plates. The 1.5mm and 2.0mm thicknesses can be bent to a 90-degree angle using a bench vise and hammer for custom L-bracket applications. The 2.5mm and 3.0mm thicknesses are not recommended for field bending. For pre-formed angle brackets, see our LD-206 angle bracket product.
