FAQ
What blade pitch is best for different cutting tasks?
Use 6 TPI blades for fast rough cutting of green wood and large branches. Use 8 TPI for medium wood and general-purpose cutting. Fine 10-12 TPI blades are available for dry hardwood and smoother finishes.
How do I replace the blade?
Loosen the wing nut at the frame end, remove the old blade from both pegs, insert the new blade with teeth pointing forward away from the handle, seat it on both pegs, and tighten the wing nut until the blade is taut and produces a clear tone when plucked.
Can this saw cut metal?
The LD-158 bow saw is designed for wood and branch cutting. For metal cutting, use our LD-156 hacksaw with appropriate bi-metal blades.
What is the maximum cutting diameter?
The 21-inch model can cut branches and logs up to approximately 5 inches diameter. The 24-inch model handles up to approximately 6 inches. For very large trunks, make multiple cuts from different angles.
