FAQ
What blade pitch should I use for different materials?
Use 18TPI blades for thick soft metals like aluminum and copper, 24TPI for general steel and iron cutting, and 32TPI for thin sheet metal and hard materials. For wood cutting, 14-18TPI provides faster cutting.
How tight should the blade tension be set?
The blade should be tensioned until it produces a clear musical note when plucked, similar to a guitar string. Insufficient tension causes blade wandering and breakage. Over-tensioning can damage the frame pins. The LD-156 adjustable mechanism makes finding the right tension easy.
Can this hacksaw cut through hardened steel?
Standard bi-metal blades can cut mild steel and some alloy steels. For hardened steel, use a cobalt-alloy or carbide-grit blade. The LD-156 frame accepts all standard pin-type blades including specialty blades.
Is the frame compatible with mini or junior blades?
The LD-156 accepts standard full-size 12 inch (300mm) blades. For 6-inch mini blades, we offer a separate mini hacksaw model designed specifically for compact cutting tasks.
